Weather Station
On Friday we ordered a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 Plus wireless weather station. Sometime next week we'll be installing the
station up on the roof next to PancakeCam. The station will allow us to add real-time weather conditions to the site. Here's a few
examples of other sites
here and here that  use Davis software. We hope to have the station up and running by Saturday, April 23.
A page devoted to the weather will be added also. A preset for the PancakeCam will be added for the weather station.

Weather Station installed
The Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus has been installed up on the roof next to the PancakeCam.  The package is awesome and was very
easy to set up and configure. We'll be posting a page devoted to the station, output from the station and some photos.  For right
now you can check out the current local conditions
here and a history here. Use your back button to return here. We're looking into
a flash based real-time weather logger to display the weather.

Flash Weather Software installed
You can see up to the second weather by clicking here. The flash application works quite well and updates the instrument
package every 2 - 5 seconds. You can check your update rate by looking at the clock in the middle of the instruments. Each time
the digits change the flash app has been hit with new data from the weather station.

Camera and Weather Station Reinstalled
After the initial install of the camera, we were concerned about the amount of image shake during windy days.  While image shake
has been reduced, it is still there after the second install. We've also moved the weather station so you can see it from the
PancakeCam. We finally had some rain the other day (over 1 inch in 24 hrs) and it was nice to see the station register some rain
data. We continue to be impressed with the Davis weather station. We switched from the Davis software to
Virtual Weather Station
(VWS) available from
Ambient. The VWS Internet package is well thought out and a step or two ahead of the Davis product. The
biggest difference being in the graphics that are far superior to the Davis output.  VWS also works in unison with WeatherFlash
quite nicely.

Weather Home page goes live
The Weather Home page goes live today and we're pretty pleased with it. The page contains a very comprehensive list of links and
live
NWS Radar images that link to the NWS. We're still building the page but its pretty good already. You'll notice that the
connection time on the PancakeCam is now 10 minutes instead of 2. This allows you to monitor the camera and weather on the
same page. Give the page a look
here.
